"When you become a mom, there's something that just happens where you feel like you can take on the world and do anything," Rihanna previously explained. The Super Bowl is one of the world's largest stages. As terrifying as that was because I hadn't been on stage in seven years, the challenge of it all was exhilarating. This is very important to me this year. It's important for representation, and my son needs to see that."

She went on to say that representation was a major factor in her performance, including "representing immigrants, representing my home country of Barbados, and representing Black women everywhere. That is extremely important. It's critical for people to see the possibilities. And I'm grateful to be here. This is an honor for me this year."
